Titans Sweep Vikings To Go 7-0

UW-Oshkosh continued its best start to a season since 2000 with a 9-0 victory over the Lawrence University women's tennis team on Wednesday (Sept. 19) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.

The Titans (7-0) maintained their perfect record by defeating a Lawrence University squad that had won its previous five matches. UW-Oshkosh took all six singles contests in straight sets and outscored the Vikings (6-3) by a 25-15 count in doubles play.

Preslee Nolte (So. • Warren, N.J.) won at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for UW-Oshkosh. She defeated Christina Schaupp, 6-3, 6-2, and teamed with Megan Etten (Jr. • Howard) to oust Schaupp and Hannah Geoffrey, 8-3. Etten also earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Geoffrey at No. 3 singles.

At No. 2 singles, Morgan Counts (Jr. • Oshkosh) beat Gayatri Malhotra, 6-2, 6-3. She also worked with Erica Van Riper (So. • Waukesha) to edge Malhotra and Polly Dalton, 9-7, at No. 2 doubles.

Other singles winners for the Titans were Van Riper in the fourth flight, Karlie Laveau (So. • Waukesha) in the fifth and Llora Waldman (So. • Wausau) in the sixth. Van Riper defeated Dalton, 6-4, 6-1, while Laveau ousted Melissa Heeren, 6-2, 6-1. Waldman marked a 6-3, 6-3 win over Tess Vogel.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining victory came at No. 3 doubles, where Laveau and Hannah Bostwick (So. • Whitefish Bay) tripped Vogel and Allison Juda, 8-5.

The Titans have some time off before hosting NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay and UW-La Crosse at the Kolf Sports Center Complex on Sept. 29.
