Titans Move To 4-0 With Win Over Pioneers

Erica Van Riper (So. • Waukesha) was perfect in singles play while winning her doubles match as UW-Oshkosh notched a 6-3 women's tennis win over Carroll University on Wednesday (Sept. 12) in Waukesha.

At No. 5 singles, Van Riper gained a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Amanda Weckop. Morgan Counts (Jr. • Oshkosh) then joined Van Riper at No. 2 doubles, where they defeated Abigail Pellet and Julia Patzin, 8-5.

The Titans' other doubles triumph came from Valerie Langkau (Jr. • Oshkosh) and Karlie Laveau (So. • Waukesha) in the third flight. The duo posted an 8-2 win over Sarah Wick and Amanda Weckop.

Laveau was also impressive at No. 6 singles, where she dominated Margaret Schneider by a 6-0, 6-1 score.

Counts captured a 6-3, 6-2 win over Megan Rosenberg at No. 2 singles, while Megan Etten (Jr. • Howard) battled for a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Wick at No. 4.

Carroll University (5-1) achieved its success at the first and third flights of singles play. At No. 1, Pellet topped Preslee Nolte (So. • Warren, N.J.) by a 6-1, 6-2 count. Patzin then marked a 6-3, 6-2 win over Langkau at No. 3.

Rosenberg and Kate Rasmussen tacked on an 8-5 decision over Etten and Nolte at No. 1 doubles.

UW-Oshkosh (4-1) has its next six events at home, beginning against UW-River Falls on Friday (Sept. 14) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts.
