Titans Overpower Sabres

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team posted a convincing 8-1 victory over Marian University on Friday (Sept. 7) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.

Erica Van Riper (So. • Waukesha) highlighted the win for the Titans (1-0) with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 4 singles.

UW-Oshkosh's Preslee Nolte (So. • Warren, N.J.), Llora Waldman (So. • Wausau) and Andrea Larson (Jr. • Hartland) added 6-1, 6-0 victories at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Nolte defeated Ann Goyke, while Waldman ousted Sarah Brooker and Larson beat Karianne Hofstetter.

The Titans also picked up individual wins from Morgan Counts (Jr. • Oshkosh) at No. 2 and Valerie Langkau (Jr. • Oshkosh) at No. 3 singles. Counts recorded a 4-6, 6-2 (10-2) victory over Brynn Hartzell and Langkau a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Reilly Connaher.

In doubles play, UW-Oshkosh's Maggie Bolton (Fr. • Janesville) and Hannah Bostwick (So. • Whitefish Bay) scored an 8-0 win over Brooker and Hofstetter in the third flight.

UW-Oshkosh won at No. 1 doubles as Nolte and Megan Etten (Jr. • Howard) registered an 8-3 victory over Goyke and Hartzell.

Marian University (1-4) earned the win at No. 2 doubles as Connaher and Chelsey Will topped Langkau and Karlie Laveau (So. • Waukesha), 8-1.

UW-Oshkosh returns to the court on Saturday (Sept. 8) with matches in Ashwaubenon against Elmhurst College (Ill.) and St. Norbert College.
