Titans Have Little Trouble With Bluejays, Green Knights

UW-Oshkosh lost only twice in 18 contests as it defeated the Elmhurst College (Ill.) and St. Norbert College women's tennis teams on Saturday (Sept. 8) in Ashwaubenon.

The Titans (3-0) swept Elmhurst College, 9-0, in the opener before ousting St. Norbert College, 7-2.

UW-Oshkosh had four players go unbeaten in all four of its singles and doubles matches, including Preslee Nolte (So. • Warren, N.J.) who won at the highest level of play in each category.

Nolte recorded victories of 3-6, 6-3 (10-8) over Annie Duggan of Elmhurst College and 6-1, 6-1 over Nancy Chybowski of St. Norbert College at No. 1 singles. She also teamed with Megan Etten (Jr. • Howard) to tally wins of 8-2 over Nicole Darga and Brittany Kuehn of Elmhurst College and 8-6 over Chybowski and Maria Slusarek of St. Norbert College at No. 1 doubles.

Morgan Counts (Jr. • Oshkosh), Karlie Laveau (So. • Waukesha) and Erica Van Riper (So. • Waukesha) were also perfect for the Titans.

Counts and Van Riper teamed up at No. 2 doubles to register wins of 8-4 over Duggan and Lauren Kuehn of Elmhurst College and 8-0 over Laura Michael and Lizzy Tews of St. Norbert College.

Counts went on to notch victories of 6-1, 6-2 over Darga of Elmhurst College and 6-3, 6-4 over Ariel Bloniarz of St. Norbert College at No. 2 singles. Competing at No. 5 singles, Van Riper marked triumphs of 6-3, 6-4 over Brittany Kuehn of Elmhurst College and 6-2, 3-6 (10-4) over Maggie Berens of St. Norbert College.

Laveau performed at No. 6 singles and posted wins of 6-4, 6-0 over McKennah Lloyd of Elmhurst College and 6-1, 6-1 over Brittany Dudzik of St. Norbert College. In doubles play, Laveau worked with Valerie Langkau (Jr. • Oshkosh) in the third flight and recorded 8-4 victories over Jennifer Guenther and Ragan Wilson of Elmhurst College and Berens and Emily Rasmussen of St. Norbert College.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining wins came against Elmhurst College (0-2) as Langkau defeated Lauren Kuehn by a 6-2, 6-1 score at No. 3 singles and Etten ousted Wilson by a 6-4, 2-6 (10-4) value at No. 4 singles.

St. Norbert College (2-2) earned its team points on wins by Slusarek at No. 3 singles and Tews at No. 4 singles. Slusarek beat Langkau, 6-3, 6-0, while Tews topped Etten, 6-1, 7-6.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Carroll University on Wednesday (Sept. 12).
