Eagles Fly Away From Titans

Carlie Bohrman, Kelly Kuether and Sarah Schoenwaelder were all double winners as the UW-La Crosse women's tennis team defeated UW-Oshkosh, 9-0, on Saturday (Oct. 10) in La Crosse.

Kuether won at the highest level of play, recording a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Liz Leffler (So. • Racine) at No. 1 singles and teaming with Kelly Stadum to register an 8-6 triumph over Leffler and Emily Bostwick (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) at No. 1 doubles.

Bohrman tallied a 6-2, 6-1 win over Eva Counsell (So. • Elkhorn) at No. 3 singles and paired with Schoenwaelder to mark an 8-5 victory over Brittany Braasch (Sr. • Ixonia) and Whitney Tornow (Jr. • Neenah) at No. 2 doubles.

In addition to her doubles win, Schoenwaelder also posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Erica Troia (So. • Madison) at No. 6 singles.

UW-Oshkosh (4-4/1-4 WIAC) lost a tight contest at No. 2 singles as Bostwick dropped a 6-0, 6-7 (10-7) decision to Katie McDonald.

At No. 3 doubles, the UW-Oshkosh tandem of Pietkauskis and Troia dropped an 8-4 result to Megan Fallon and Andrea Vivian.

UW-La Crosse (8-2/3-1 WIAC) also received wins from Mara Weiner at No. 4 singles and Jenny Maruyama at No. 5 singles. Weiner defeated Tornow, 6-3, 6-3, while Maruyama beat Pietkauskis, 6-2, 7-5.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its fall dual meet schedule with a match against UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Oct.16) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
