Titans Win 12 Events To Sink Red Hawks

Cadence Showalter won three individual events and Morgan Beckett, Emma Hall and Bailey Schroeder two apiece as the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team defeated Ripon College, 139-103, Saturday (Feb. 5) in Albee Hall.

UW-Oshkosh owned the winner in 12 of the meet's 15 events and totaled 21 top four finishes overall.

Showalter swam to winning times of 5:32.43 in the 500-yard freestyle and 1:06.10 in the 100- and 2:20.72 in the 200-yard butterfly events. She also helped Hall, Moriah Drabenstadt and Francesca Schiro to a first-place performance of 3:52.03 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Beckett earned her victories with times of 1:14.21 in the 100- and 2:40.92 in the 200-yard breaststrokes. She also finished third in the 200-yard individual medley with an effort of 2:30.70 while assisting Drabenstadt, Grace Fergus and Corrina Winkler to a second-place time of 4:29.83 in the 400-yard medley relay. 

Hall picked up her first place mentions with times of 1:04.75 in the 100- and 2:20.76 in the 200-yard backstrokes. She additionally finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a swim of 26.78 seconds.

Schroeder won both diving events after compiling scores of 238.57 off the 1-meter board and 223.79 off the 3-meter plank. She has now won the 1-meter diving event in each of UW-Oshkosh's last five meets.

Other individual winners for the Titans were Fergus and Schiro. Fergus won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:25.67 while Schiro captured first place in the 50-yard freestyle with an effort of 25.67 seconds. Fergus also finished second in the 200- and third in the 100-yard backstrokes with times of 2:23.96 and 1:08.07, respectively.

Winkler contributed a trio of top four individual listings by finishing third in both the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly with times of 1:03.11 and 1:10.69, respectively, and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a swim of 2:18.80.

UW-Oshkosh's top four finishes concluded with Drabenstadt's third-place time of 1:24.66 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it participates at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Feb. 16-19 at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer. The league championship was canceled in 2021 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
