Titans Close Season With Loss To Blugolds

Brianna Smith won a pair of freestyle races and Jennifer Lutz one during UW-Oshkosh's season-ending 201-80 loss to the UW-Eau Claire women's swimming & diving team on Saturday (Feb. 27) in Albee Hall.

Smith, a freshman, swam to winning freestyle times of 1:59.57 at 200 yards and 5:24.95 at 500. She also combined with Lutz, Lexi Gray and Emelia Smith for a second-place time of 8:50.42 in the 800-yard freestyle relay and Lutz, Alyssa Hassel and Corrina Winkler for a third-place swim of 4:19.19 in the 400-yard medley relay.

In addition to her performance in the relays, Lutz finished first in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:58.71 and second in the 100-yard butterfly with a pace of 1:03.81.

The Titans captured three of the top four results in the 3-meter diving and three of the top five listings in the 1-meter diving.

Allie Wucak finished second for UW-Oshkosh off the 3-meter board with 181.75 points while Ella Thibert placed third with 179.00 and Calie Gulbrandson fourth with 174.10. In the 1-meter category Thibert ranked second with 189.20 points, Wucak fourth with 183.35 and Gulbrandson fifth with 182.05.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining second-place swims belonged to Gray with a time of 20:23.48 in the 1,650-yard freestyle and Mackenzie Range in the 200-yard breaststroke with an effort of 2:54.49.

The Titans' other third-place finishes went to Olivia Davis in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:25.08 and Emelia Smith in the 1,650-yard freestyle with an outcome of 20:45.62.

UW-Oshkosh closed its fourth-place listings with the times of 6:00.55 in the 500-yard freestyle from Gray, 1:07.96 in the 100-yard backstroke from Hassel, 1:17.45 in the 100-yard breaststroke from Range, 1:02.27 in the 100-yard freestyle from Jana Metko and 2:34.13 in the 200-yard backstroke from Emelia Smith.

Gray and Lutz are the only seniors on this year's UW-Oshkosh team. Lutz, along with Sydney Challoner, Alexandra Schuster and Tessa Shorten, hold the school record in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:01.76.
