Titans Win Four Events, Place Second In Five Against Warhawks

UW-Oshkosh's Olivia Davis, Brianna Smith and Allie Wucak were event winners during the Titans' unscored women's swimming & diving dual meet against UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Feb. 20) in Whitewater.

Davis, a freshman, won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:37.10 while Smith, a freshman, finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a swim of 26.99 seconds. Smith also placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.55.

Wucak swept both diving competitions by earning victorious scores of 185.47 off the 1-meter board and 177.67 off the 3-meter plank.

The Titans' five second-place results included a pair by Jennifer Lutz. Lutz was the runner-up in the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes with times of 1:06.18 and 2:22.23, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh also received second-place swims of 12:32.18 in the 1,000-yard freestyle from Lexi Gray and 5:19.80 in the 400-yard individual medley from Alyssa Hassel. They both contributed a third-place result as Gray went 6:06.90 in the 500-yard freestyle and Hassel 1:16.51 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Other Titans posting third-place finishes were Jana Metko in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:54.38, Emelia Smith in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:34.55 and Corrina Winkler in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.90. Smith and Winkler both added a fourth-place outcome with their times of 1:12.04 in the 100-yard backstroke and 1:08.03 in the 100-yard butterfly, respectively.

The Titans placed twice in both relays, including the 400-yard freestyle where Lutz, Metko, Winkler and Brianna Smith finished second with a time of 4:01.42 and Davis, Hassel, Range and Emelia Smith fourth in 4:13.69.

In the 400-yard medley relay, Davis, Hassel, Lutz and Brianna Smith finished third with a time of 4:32.95 while Metko, Range, Winkler and Emelia Smith placed fourth in 4:38.02.

UW-Whitewater won 12 of the meet's 16 events, including two apiece from Olivia Theobald, Anna Yeazel and Brianna Zimdars. Theobald took the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:04.66 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:37.06 while Yeazel won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:37.73 and the 400-yard individual medley in 5:03.03. Zimdars swept the backstroke events with times of 1:02.35 at 100 yards and 2:16.41 at 200.

UW-Oshkosh closes out its abbreviated schedule for the 2021 season by hosting UW-Eau Claire next Saturday (Feb. 27) in Albee Hall.
