Eagles Ruin Titans' Last Home Meet Of Season

Sydney Challoner and McKinzie Halkola both won an event and finished second in another during UW-Oshkosh's 166-77 loss to six-time defending WIAC women's swimming & diving champion UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Jan. 20) in Albee Hall.

Challoner took first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.82 and second in the 100-yard breaststroke with an effort of 1:12.09.

Halkola won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.92 and was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle with a performance of 5:34.34.

Challoner and Halkola also joined Jennifer Lutz and Alison Panske in recording a second-place time of 1:58.28 in the 200-yard medley relay. 

Other second-place listings for the Titans belonged to Lutz in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.11 and Panske in the 100-yard freestyle with a pace of 58.51 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh's seven third-place finishes included a pair by both Rebecca Birriel and Gabrielle Kraus.

Birriel posted times of 1:15.32 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:24.14 in the 200-yard individual medley while Kraus tallied points of 258.25 in the 1-meter diving and 226.05 in the 3-meter diving. 

The Titans also had third-place times of 26.81 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle from Panske, 1:04.58 in the 100-yard backstroke from Lutz and 12:19.25 in the 1,000-yard freestyle from Lexi Gray.

UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place finishes went to Gray in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:05.26, Jennifer Anderson in the 100-yard freestyle with a performance of 1:03.02 and Elizabeth Kelly in the 1,000-yard freestyle with an effort of 12:21.20.

Saturday's meet concluded UW-Oshkosh's home meet schedule for the 2017-18 season.

UW-Oshkosh is off until Feb. 3 when it sends Kraus and Johnna Seelman to the University of Illinois-Chicago Diving Invitational and the remaining members of its team to Ripon College for a dual meet.
