The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team suffered its first defeat in nearly a month when it lost a 1-0 decision to Concordia University Wisconsin on Sunday (Oct. 22) in Mequon.

Shannon Carroll scored the pivotal goal for the Falcons (8-6-3) off a cross from Alexandra Tomich just 4:24 into play. Her shot was the first of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh (7-6-4) had an excellent opportunity to tie the score midway through the first half, but a kick by Addie Schmitz hit the post during the 24th minute (23:55) of action.

UW-Oshkosh, which hadn't lost since a 2-0 setback to St. Norbert College on Sept. 27, attempted 10 shots against Concordia University Wisconsin.

Schmitz launched a team-high five shots for the Titans, including attempts that were saved by Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Tabitha Ortiz during the 10th, 24th and 69th minute of activity.

Ortiz also stopped two shots (60th and 62nd minute) by UW-Oshkosh's Hannah Zacher and one (22nd minute) from Titan Felicia Retrum.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Jessica Galason kept the score close by stopping six Concordia University Wisconsin shots, three in each half. She halted shots by Tomich in the 28th and 90th minute, Allison McElwee in the 23rd and 33rd minute, Anna Knueppel in the 52nd minute and Kayla Schlosser in the 54th.

Concordia University Wisconsin, which registered its third straight home win over UW-Oshkosh, compiled 17 shots in Sunday's match. The Falcons were led by the four shots apiece from Knueppel and Tomich.

UW-Oshkosh, 4-1-3 in its last eight matches, closes its regular season at UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Oct. 28). Both teams are unbeaten in WIAC play, but the Eagles have clinched the outright league championship for 2018 with their 6-0 record. The Titans are 3-0-3 in their six WIAC contests this season.
