Blue Devils Rally To Oust Titans In Overtime

UW-Stout scored late in the second half to force overtime and again five minutes into the extra session to defeat the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team, 2-1, on Saturday (Oct. 15) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Sydney Kasper gave the Blue Devils (5-7-1, 2-2 WIAC) the win by converting a 10-yard shot during the game's 95th minute of play. Her team-leading sixth goal of the season came off a pass from Kelly Conn.

UW-Stout owned both overtime shots, with the other being a Ryanne Millis kick during the fourth minute of the extra period and 94th overall.

UW-Stout, which defeated UW-Oshkosh for just the fourth time in 28 matches (4-18-6 record), created a 1-1 tie with Sarah Todey's goal in the 84th minute (83:52) of regulation. Todey followed a pass from Sarah Dickmann and booted a 30-yard shot that lofted over the arms of UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan and into the net. Todey's match-tying kick was her only shot of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh (7-6-1, 2-2 WIAC) and UW-Stout combined to total 13 shots before the Titans' AJ Jackson scored with 43 seconds (44:17) left in the first half. Jackson retrieved a loose ball and drilled a 15-yard shot into the net for her third goal of the season.

UW-Stout finished the contest with 22 shots, including 10 on goal. The seven shots from Millis, five from Dickmann and four from Kasper led the Blue Devils.

UW-Oshkosh compiled 13 shots, with six of them on goal. Alyssa Arnold had four shots and Rachel Elliott, Robyn Elliott and Kendra Jepson two apiece for the Titans.

UW-Oshkosh's Runyan saved seven shots, all in the second half. The Titans also recorded a team save during the second period.

UW-Stout goalkeeper Lynn Johnson blocked five UW-Oshkosh shots, three in the first half and two in the second.

Both teams earned five corner kick opportunities.
