Titans Rally Past Knights With Second-Half Scores

UW-Oshkosh scored a pair of second-half goals on Sunday (Sept. 18) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium to edge Wartburg College (Iowa), 2-1, in a matchup of teams that participated in last year's NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.

UW-Oshkosh, which lost on a penalty kick shootout to DePauw University (Ind.) in the first round of last year's NCAA postseason tournament, tied Wartburg College on Katelyn Fladten's goal in the 57th minute (56:32) and went ahead of the Knights on AJ Jackson's score in the 74th (73:50).

Fladten helped the Titans (4-3) draw even with the Knights by converting a 12-yard shot off a cross from Alyssa Arnold. The goal was Fladten's first of the season.

Jackson then tallied her second goal of the season, both match winners, by following a Robyn Elliott pass with a 10-yard kick into the net.

UW-Oshkosh attempted 19 shots during the match, including nine that were saved by Wartburg College goalkeeper Beth Crow. The Knights (4-2-1) also had a defender stop a Titan shot from going into the goal.

Rachel Elliott led UW-Oshkosh with four shots, while Fladten and Jackson counted three apiece. Robyn Elliott and Maddie Morris attempted two shots each for the Titans.

Wartburg College, which lost 1-0 to Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) in the third round of last year's NCAA Championship, took a 1-0 lead over UW-Oshkosh on Alyssa Hewitt's goal in the 31st minute (30:14).

Hewitt scored for the Knights on a 15-yard kick that followed a serve from Madison Astgen.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Jessica Galason saved five Wartburg College shots, three in the first half and two in the second.

Wartburg College had four of its five corner kicks in the second half while UW-Oshkosh earned all four of its corner kick opportunities in the first.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Dubuque, Iowa, on Thursday (Sept. 22) to play 21st-ranked Loras College (Iowa).
