Siewert Leads Titans' All-WIAC Soccer Selections

Co-Defensive Player of the Year Ashley Siewert and three-time honoree Robyn Elliott headline five UW-Oshkosh players named to the 2015 All-WIAC Women's Soccer Team.

Siewert, a senior defender, is the second Titan to earn the league's Defensive Player of the Year award, joining Anna Beckerleg in 2013.

Elliott, a junior midfielder, becomes the third UW-Oshkosh player to receive All-WIAC First Team honors three times.

UW-Oshkosh seniors Nikki Mann, Christina Mauthe and Nina Muzi were also selected to the All-WIAC squad.

The Titans and UW-Whitewater both placed five players on the 22-member all-conference team. UW-La Crosse followed with four selections, UW-River Falls with three, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout two apiece and UW-Platteville one.

Siewert, who also earned All-WIAC accolades in 2013, leads a UW-Oshkosh defensive unit that ranks first in the league with 16 goals allowed and second with eight shutouts.

Siewert has started all 19 matches that she has played in this season and notched her first career goal during the Titans' 7-0 victory over Marian University on Sept. 11. In her career, Siewert has appeared in 79 games, including 68 as a starter.

Elliott, who has started all 20 games for the Titans this season, ranks second on the team with 18 points, seven goals and four assists. Her 0.90 points per game lists eighth in the WIAC and her goal total ninth.

Elliott tallied a goal in seven of the Titans' first 13 games, including the match-winner during a 2-1 victory over the University of California-Santa Cruz on Sept. 26. She has registered either a goal or an assist in 11 contests this season.

Elliott has started all 62 UW-Oshkosh games during her three seasons, scoring 44 points on 17 goals and 10 assists.

Mann, a defender, is a repeat selection to the all-conference team. She has started all 20 games and helped the Titans limit their opponents to just 103 shots on goal. UW-Oshkosh hasn't allowed more than two goals in a game all season.

Mann has played in all 81 of UW-Oshkosh's contests during her four seasons, including 80 as a starter. She tallied both of her career goals in 2013 and recorded her lone assist in 2014.

Mauthe, a forward, leads the Titans with 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Her assist total ranks second in the WIAC while her points list fourth and her goals fifth.

Mauthe's five game-winning goals are the second most in the league this season. Her game winners have included the lone scores in 1-0 victories over UW-Stout on Oct. 3 and UW-Eau Claire in the semifinal round of the WIAC Championship on Nov. 5.

Mauthe owns career totals of 30 points on 10 goals and 10 assists in 52 games, including 43 starts.

Muzi, a first-time All-WIAC selection, has started each game and been UW-Oshkosh's goalkeeper for all but 90 minutes this year. She owns a league-leading 0.82 goals-against average while ranking second with six shutouts and third with 82 saves.

Muzi was credited with three consecutive shutouts during a span in which the Titans held their opponents scoreless for 391 minutes, 28 seconds of game action from Sept. 26 through Oct. 14.

During her career, Muzi has played 52 games, including 45 as a starter. She has produced a 31-14-4 record while amassing career totals of 223 saves, 15 shutouts and a 0.75 goals-against average in 4,295 minutes of action.

Carina Krausert, Marie Lesperance, Carly Pottle, Brianna Reid and Mackenzie Serbousek represented UW-Whitewater on the All-WIAC First Team, while UW-La Crosse's honorees were Kourtni Alcock, Kennedy Brault, Alex Cording and Margaret Harings. Reid was voted the Offensive Player of the Year and Alcock the Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Rounding out the selections were Carrie Anderson, Maggie Koehler and Abby Soderholm from UW-River Falls; Tara Dennehy and Ashley Seymour from UW-Eau Claire; Yamilex Jaramillo from UW-Platteville; and Jenna Kizlik and Vanessa Wrobel from UW-Stout.

The WIAC also named UW-La Crosse's Jason Murphy as its Coach of the Year and UW-Whitewater's Jenna Woodson as its winner of the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award.

UW-Oshkosh (14-4-2) and UW-La Crosse (12-6-2) shared the WIAC regular-season title with 5-1-1 records, while UW-Whitewater (17-4) followed in third place with a 5-2 mark. UW-Whitewater defeated UW-Oshkosh, 1-0, in the final of the WIAC Championship to earn the league's automatic berth into the 64-team NCAA Division III Championship.

UW-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh both earned one of 20 at-large berths into the national tournament, giving the WIAC three teams in the NCAA postseason for the first time.

UW-Oshkosh begins its second straight and fourth overall NCAA postseason appearance by taking on DePauw University (Ind.) at 1:30 p.m. (EST) on Friday (Nov. 13) in Grand Rapids, Mich.
