Titans Invited To NCAA Women's Soccer Championship

The NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship will include UW-Oshkosh for the second straight year following the Titans' selection to the 64-team tournament on Monday (Nov. 9).

UW-Oshkosh received one of 20 at-large bids after earning an automatic berth into the event a year ago. The Titans also received NCAA postseason invitations in 2006 and 2011.

UW-Oshkosh (14-4-2) plays DePauw University (Ind.) (12-6-1) in the first round of the championship at 1:30 p.m. (EST) on Friday (Nov. 13) in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The other first-round game at 11 a.m. (EST) on Friday at the Grand Rapids Regional involves host Calvin College (18-2-2) and Milwaukee School of Engineering (15-6).

Friday's winners will meet for the regional title at 1 p.m. (EST) on Saturday (Nov. 14). All three contests will be played at Calvin College's Zuidema Field.

UW-Oshkosh has gone 12-2-2 in its last 16 matches. The Titans shared their first WIAC regular-season title with UW-La Crosse this season before losing a 1-0 decision to UW-Whitewater in the league tournament's championship game.

DePauw University is making its second NCAA postseason appearance, qualifying with a 2-0 victory over Denison University (Ohio) in the championship match of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament. The Tigers won this year's NCAC regular-season title for the first time in school history.

Calvin College earned an automatic berth into the national tournament by downing Hope College (Mich.), 3-0, in the championship game of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAA) Tournament. The Knights, who have not lost in their last 20 matches (18-0-2 record), will be making their 11th NCAA postseason appearance after winning the MIAA regular-season title for the third time in four years. Calvin College is ranked 20th in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America

Milwaukee School of Engineering will be making its debut in the NCAA Championship after winning the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament with a 5-4 victory over Aurora University (Ill.) in the title match. The Raiders, who have won their last eight games, placed third in this year's NACC regular-season standings.

UW-La Crosse (12-6-2) and UW-Whitewater (17-4) also received invitations to this year's championship, giving the WIAC three teams in the national field for the first time in league history.

Regional winners will advance to one of four sectional tournaments on Nov. 20-21 or 21-22. Sectional sites will be determined after regional play has concluded.

Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals and final on Dec. 4-5 at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo.
