Titans Explode For Seven Goals Against Sabres

Alek Kleis and Kaitlyn Schauer both scored two goals in UW-Oshkosh's 7-0 win over the Marian University women's soccer team on Friday (Sept. 11) in Fond du Lac.

The win, which represented the Titans' largest margin of victory since 2011, was UW-Oshkosh's ninth straight over Marian University.

UW-Oshkosh's scoring started in the sixth minute (5:42) of the match when Ashley Siewert received the ball and dribbled to the right edge of the box before shooting a high shot into the net.

Two minutes later (7:07), Schauer doubled the Titans' lead with another high shot, this time from the left side of the box into the upper-left side of the net.

UW-Oshkosh continued to pressure Marian University's defense, and in the 16th minute (15:32), Robyn Elliott scored after a finish under the goalkeeper. Elliott's goal followed a pass from Alyssa Arnold.

The Titans outshot the Sabres, 19-1, in the first half and took a 3-0 lead to intermission.

UW-Oshkosh (2-1) scored three goals within a nine-minute span of the second half to extend its lead to 6-0.

Schauer notched her second goal of the game in the 61st minute (60:01) with a header off of a corner kick taken by Megan Paulick. Kleis scored the next two goals for the Titans, with her first coming in the 64th minute (63:21) on a breakaway pass from Rylee Engelland. In the 70th minute (69:21), Kleis struck again with her second goal of the game and team-leading fourth of the season.

Kendra Jepson closed the scoring for the Titans in the 82nd minute (81:33). Her goal was a header that came off of a corner kick taken by Maddie Dallman.

UW-Oshkosh ended the game with a 32-4 shot advantage. The Titans had 24 shots on goal. Jepsen led the team with six shots, including five on goal. Alyssa Lennon and Nicole Wojahn had the only shots on goal for the Sabres (2-2).

Nina Muzi
 played the first half at goalkeeper for the Titans and didn't face a shot. Fiona Neary played the second half in goal for UW-Oshkosh and recorded two saves. The Sabres played two goalkeepers – Alysha Kallas and Michaela Derenne – who combined for 17 saves.

UW-Oshkosh visits the University of Chicago (Ill.) on Tuesday (Sept. 15) before returning to J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium for a pair of home games.
