Titans Begin WIAC Play With Win Over Blue Devils

Felicia Retrum's first collegiate goal was a match winner as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team opened conference play with a 1-0 win over UW-Stout on Saturday (Sept. 27) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Retrum, who scored on her only shot, put the Titans ahead during the 49th minute (48:55) of play.

UW-Oshkosh's Kali Jahn lofted a long pass from the left wing to the right of the goal, where Retrum got inside a UW-Stout defender, gathered the ball and scored from 10 yards out.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi stopped seven shots to record her fourth shutout of the season and sixth of her career. Muzi, who has played in goal for all but 45 minutes this season, improved her goals against average to 0.56 and her save percentage to .900.

UW-Oshkosh (5-3-1/1-0 WIAC) has allowed just five goals in its nine matches this season, with only one being registered in the first half.

The Titans attempted 10 shots, including five by Rachel Elliott, and earned eight corner kicks. Robyn Elliott and Katelyn Fladten joined Retrum in registering shots on goal for UW-Oshkosh.

UW-Stout (2-5-2/1-1 WIAC), which opened its league schedule with a win over UW-Platteville on Sept. 20, launched a total of 14 shots. The Blue Devils had seven shots on goal, including two by Kelly Conn.

UW-Stout goalkeeper Paige Mayer stopped three UW-Oshkosh shots, two in the second half.

UW-Oshkosh has lost just three of 26 matches (17-3-6 record) against UW-Stout.

The Titans continue WIAC play at UW-Superior on Saturday (Oct. 4).
