Second-Half Goal Lifts Titans Past Sabres
Amanda Baalke scored in the second half to lift the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Marian University on Wednesday (Sept. 10) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Baalke tallied the game-winning goal during the 70th minute (69:49) of play. Her 14-yard kick followed passes from Kali Jahn and Rachel Elliott. Baalke has scored both of UW-Oshkosh's goals this season.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Angela Christensen and Marian University's Caitlyn Rosenberger made three saves apiece in the scoreless first half. The teams combined for 17 first-half shots, including 10 by UW-Oshkosh (2-2).
Nina Muzi tended the UW-Oshkosh goal in the second half and made two saves to complete the shutout.
The Titans, who have not allowed a goal in regulation this season, earned their second shutout of the year and recorded their eighth straight win over the Sabres.
UW-Oshkosh held advantages of 22-9 in shots and 13-4 in corner kicks. Robyn Elliott took a match-high five shots with one on goal for the Titans. Rachel Elliott picked up her team-leading second assist of the season and added three shots.
Laura Maly put two shots on goal for Marian University (1-3). Rosenberger finished the contest saving seven UW-Oshkosh shots.
UW-Oshkosh plays its next four matches on the road, beginning with Saturday's (Sept. 13) contest at 22nd-ranked University of Dubuque (Iowa).
