Titans Shut Out Pointers For Fourth Straight Win

UW-Oshkosh used a pair of second-half goals to win its fourth straight match and defeat the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team, 2-0, on Wednesday (Oct. 9) in Stevens Point.

Robyn Elliott opened the scoring for the Titans with her goal in the 49th minute (48:29) of play. Nikki Mann then sealed the victory with her goal in the 80th minute (79:45). Both scores were unassisted.

UW-Oshkosh (7-5-1/4-1 WIAC) took charge in the second half after playing to a stalemate in the opening period. The Titans outshot the Pointers, 11-4, and earned both corner kicks over the final 45 minutes of action.

UW-Oshkosh finished the contest with 18 shots, including nine on goal. Mann, Amanda Baalke and Megan White led the Titans with three shots each.

UW-Stevens Point (3-7-2/1-3 WIAC), which has lost three straight games to UW-Oshkosh after going 18-2-1 in the first 21 meetings, ended the match with 12 shots and one corner kick. The Pointers were led by the four shots from Kelsey Majerus and the three from Carly Falk.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Berkopec saved shots, including three in the first half, to record her fifth shutout of the season. UW-Stevens Point's Kristen Churkey saved seven shots, including four in the first half, and allowed both UW-Oshkosh goals.

UW-Oshkosh celebrates Alumni Day and the 20th Anniversary of its women's soccer program when it hosts UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 12) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
