Second-Half Goals Allow Titans To Defeat Green Knights

Megan White was involved in both second-half goals as UW-Oshkosh pulled out a 2-1 victory over the St. Norbert College women's soccer team on Tuesday (Oct. 1) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

White scored the game's decisive goal on a 10-yard kick during the 80th minute (79:12) of play. The goal came after White retrieved a loose ball from in front of the St. Norbert College net.

UW-Oshkosh (5-5-1) created a 1-1 tie when Christina Mauthe scored on a 10-yard kick during the contest's 49th minute (48:22). Her goal followed passes from White and Amanda Baalke.

St. Norbert College (7-3-2) took a 1-0 lead when Katie Vanden Avond scored off a pass from Stephanie Pedretti in the 29th minute (28:38). The 10-yard kick was Vanden Avond's NCAA Division III-leading 20th goal of the season.

UW-Oshkosh, which owns a 14-3-1 record in the all-time series, attempted six shots in each half and earned a total of six corner kicks. The Titans were led by the four shots from Mauthe and the three from both Baalke and Robyn Elliott.

St. Norbert College launched five shots in each period and compiled a total of three corner kicks. Vanden Avond had five shots and Kaitlin Schmitz two for the Green Knights.

UW-Oshkosh split its goalkeeping duties as Katie Berkopec played the first half and Nina Muzi the second. Both players were credited with one save.

Sarah Platzer guarded the St. Norbert College goal for the entire match. She saved three shots, including two in the second half.
