Titans, Prairie Wolves Play To Overtime Tie

A total of 19 goalkeeping saves were made as the UW-Oshkosh and Nebraska Wesleyan University women's soccer teams played to a 1-1, double-overtime tie on Saturday (Sept. 7) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The match was the home opener for the Titans.

Nebraska Wesleyan University goalkeeper Madi Francis stopped 11 shots during the 110-minute match, including four in the first period. She also had three saves in the first overtime period and one in the second.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Berkopec was busy as well. She denied eight shots, including four in the second period. Her lone overtime save came during the second extra session.

UW-Oshkosh (0-2-1) went in front on Amanda Baalke's goal in the 23rd minute (22:18) of play. Her 15-yard kick off a breakaway followed passes from Anna Beckerleg and Chelsea Kierszh.

The Titans held their advantage until Jenna Herse scored for the Prairie Wolves in the game's 52nd minute (51:26). Her five-yard, match-tying boot came off a pass from Shannon Surber.

UW-Oshkosh appeared to have taken a 2-1 lead with 3:07 remaining, but the goal was wiped away due to an offside.

UW-Oshkosh attempted 21 shots, including nine in the first period. The Titans were led by the seven shots of Baalke and the three of Kierszh. Nebraska Wesleyan University (2-0-1) launched six of their 13 shots in the second period. Herse, Surber and Ashlee Slade led the Prairie Wolves with three shots each.
