Titans Nip Midwest Conference Co-Leader In Overtime

Amanda Leach (Jr. • Waukesha) scored both goals, including the match-winner in overtime, as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team edged Carroll University, 2-1, on Tuesday (Oct. 18) in Waukesha.

Leach, who took only two shots in the contest, ended the non-conference battle when she scored off a pass from Nikki Reed (Sr. • Muskego) in the 98th minute (97:41) of play. It was the fourth goal of the season for Leach, including her second match-winner.

Leach gave UW-Oshkosh (9-5) a 1-0 lead when she scored off a pass from Amanda Baalke (Fr. • Pewaukee) in the 55th minute (54:33) of action.

Carroll University (6-7-1), which shares first place in the Midwest Conference standings with Grinnell College (Iowa), tallied the equalizing goal in the 81st minute (80:22) of play. The Pioneers scored on an unassisted goal by Sarah Tennant.

UW-Oshkosh, which improved its winning streak to four games, attempted 11 shots and two corner kicks. The Titans were led by the three shots of Baalke and the two of both Leach and Jessica Erny (Sr. • Wauwatosa).

Carroll University finished the contest with eight shots and three corner kicks. The Pioneers, who won their previous two meetings with the Titans, were paced by the four shots of Tennant.

Brittany Walder (Sr. • Waukesha) guarded the UW-Oshkosh goal in the first half and saved two shots. She was replaced by Katie Berkopec (So. • Apple Valley, Minn.), who played the remainder of the contest and stopped two shots in the second half and one in overtime. Carroll University goalkeeper Taylor McLean stopped four shots, with three of them coming in the second half.

UW-Oshkosh hosts the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday (Oct. 20) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
