Warhawks Give Titans First Conference Loss

Emily Gerber scored her 50th career goal to give the UW-Whitewater women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (Sept. 28) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

During the contest's 55th minute (54:24), Gerber spun to face the goal after receiving a pass from Christina Tooren. Gerber then launched a 20-yard shot that hit the top-left corner of the net to mark the deciding score.

UW-Oshkosh (5-4/2-1 WIAC) had four opportunities to score in the first half, but came up empty. The Titans finished the contest with nine shots, including two from both Becca Blue (Jr. • Kimberly) and Jessica Erny (Sr. • Wauwatosa). UW-Whitewater (5-4-1/2-1-1 WIAC) attempted 11 shots, while also booking a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. The Warhawks were paced by the three shots from Gerber and the two from both Tooren and Jessica Allemang.

Both goalkeepers played the entire contest and recorded five saves. Jordan Myers earned the shutout victory, as Brittany Walder (Sr. • Waukesha) yielded one goal to take the loss. The Titans' defense continued its strong play, allowing just its seventh goal in the last eight games.

UW-Oshkosh makes a visit to UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Oct. 1).
