Blugolds Notch Shutout Victory Over Titans

A second-half goal by Paige LeGate gave the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday (Sept. 18) in Eau Claire.

LeGate scored her match-winning goal off a pass from Rachel Nerison in the 67th minute (66:26) of play. The goal was LeGate's first of the season.

UW-Eau Claire (3-2/1-0 WIAC) attempted 18 shots in the contest, including 11 in the second half. The Blugolds were led by the five shots of Nerison and the three of both LeGate and Shyla Gilbertson.

UW-Oshkosh (3-4/0-2 WIAC) was limited to just five shots, three by Jessica Erny (Jr. • Wauwatosa) and one by both Caitlin Casey (Sr. • Waukesha) and Carmen Fiordellisi (Jr. • Howard).

The Blugolds, who are unbeaten in their last nine matches (8-0-1 record) against the Titans, owned all five corner kicks.


UW-Eau Claire goalkeeper Amanda Hakala saved three shots in her shutout victory. UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (Jr. • Waukesha) saved nine shots, four in the first half and five in the second.

UW-Oshkosh plays the third of five straight WIAC contests when it hosts UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Sept. 25) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
