Comets Burn Titans In Final Minutes

Olivet College (Mich.) scored twice in the final minutes to rally past UW-Oshkosh, 2-1, in a women's soccer match held Saturday (Sept. 4) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (1-1) took a 1-0 lead when Becca Blue (So. • Kimberly) grabbed a rebound of her own missed shot and kicked the ball into the goal in the 18th minute (17:26) of play.

UW-Oshkosh held its one-goal advantage until Olivet College's Katie Clayton scored on a pass from Elizabeth Julian with 4:01 left. The Comets completed their comeback when Ashley Buyce retrieved a missed shot from Julian and booted a shot of her own into the goal with 2:21 remaining.

Olivet College, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, posted advantages of 14-13 in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks. The Comets (2-0) attempted nine of their shots in the second half while the Titans launched eight of their shots in the first.

Olivet College was led by the four shots of Julian and the two of both Buyce and Lindsey Winters. UW-Oshkosh's shot count included three by Blue and two each by Caitlin Casey (Sr. • Waukesha), Nikki Mohr (So. • Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Steffanie Nagan (Sr. • Kaukauna).

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (Jr. • Waukesha) saved five shots in the contest and Olivet College goalkeeper Alyssa Brudos three. The Titans also had a defender record a save.
