Titans to Compete at Pat "Flash" Flanagan Open

OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Oshkosh Titans wrestling squad concludes regular season action this weekend, competing at the Pat "Flash" Flanagan Open. Action is set to start at 9 a.m. on the Loras College campus in Dubuque, Iowa. 

The Titans were last in action, falling to No. 6/1 Augsburg University of January 21. Luc Valdez posted a win at 125 before Denis Murphy took down No. 13 Cade Willis at 133. In the only battle between ranked wrestlers, No. 2 Beau Yineman had a major decision victory over No. 12 Parker Venz of Augsburg.

Yineman leads the team with a dual record of 18-4 and seven pins. Valdez holds a record of 16-7 in duals, while Cody Welker has an 11-8 record against attached wrestlers with five pins.

Oshkosh In the Rankings

At the NWCA National rankings, released on January 18, 2023, Yineman sits at No. 2 in the national rankings at 197. In the Upper Midwest regional rankings, Valdez sits at No. 5 at the 125-weight class and Yineman at No. 1 in the region. In the tournament team rankings, the Titans are tied at 19th with three institutions.

In the D3wrestle.com rankings, released on Jan. 25, 2023, Yineman is No. 1 at 197 for the Titans. Valdez is an honorable mention at 125.

The Titans are ranked in the team rankings from Open Mat, sitting at No. 24 in the team tournament rankings. Yineman holds the top spot at 197 in the Open Mat rankings.
