Titans Unable To Hold Off Pioneers' Late Charge

The UW-Oshkosh wrestling team fell to the visiting UW-Platteville by a tally of 22-19 on Thursday (Dec. 1) in Kolf Sports Center.

The Pioneers (2-0, 1-0 WIAC) rallied from a 19-8 deficit to upend the Titans (2-2, 1-2 WIAC).

Starting the 14-point rally for the Pioneers was Grant Wedepohl who defeated Patrick Reilly, 14-3, at 184 pounds. Josh Cannon added to the rally by defeating John DePersia, 12-4, at the 197-pound class.

The dual came down to the final match that pitted UW-Platteville's D'Andre Johnson against Titan Elijah Burdick. Johnson picked up a decisive pin in 4:28 to help his team defeat UW-Oshkosh by a three-point margin.

The dual started out going back and forth as Anthony Senthavisouk defeated Zach Stenger, 7-6, at the 125-pound weight class, and Scott Arneson got the Pioneers on the board as he defeated Reiss Bielski, 20-2, at 133 pounds.

Donovan Luckett regained the lead for the Titans by defeating Alex Costello, 11-4, in the 141-pound weight class.

Nate Arquinego picked up the only UW-Oshkosh pin, sticking Carter Barkema to the mat in 4:11 at 149 pounds.

Mark Choinski defeated Dustin Reynolds, 8-0, at the 157-pound weight class, and Colten Cashmore picked up the final Titan win as he defeated Jake Carpenter, 3-1, at 174 pounds.

Michael Belanger added a Pioneer victory, defeating Aristide Serrano, 3-1, at 165 pounds.

The Titans compete at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 3).
