Former Titan Places Fourth At U.S. World Team Trials

Former UW-Oshkosh wrestler Nazar Kulchytskyy finished fourth at the U.S. World Team Trials held this past weekend (June 12-14) in Madison.

Competing in the 154-pound (70 kg) weight class, Kulchytskyy opened the event with a 9-7 loss to eventual champion James Green. He then posted a pair of 10-0 wins over two-time NCAA Division I All-American Adam Hall and four-time NCAA Division I All-American Derek St. John. Kulchytskyy finished his activity with a 5-3 loss to Kevin LaValley in the third-place match.

Kulchytskyy qualified for the event by winning the Northeast Regional.

Kulchytskyy compiled a 142-5 record (67 pins) while wrestling for UW-Oshkosh from 2011-14. The Sosnivka, Ukraine, native won the 157-pound title at the 2012 and 2014 NCAA Division III Championships and the 165-pound crown in 2013. The three-time WIAC Wrestler of the Year posted a 41-2 record in 2014 to earn the NCAA's Most Dominant Wrestler Award.
