Kulchytskyy Repeats As WIAC Wrestler Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh's Nazar Kulchytskyy earned his second straight WIAC Wrestler of the Week citation after being named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Pete Willson Invitational held Jan. 31 - Feb. 1 in Wheaton, Ill. Kulchytskyy's latest award was for meets held Jan. 27 - Feb. 2.

Competing at 157 pounds, Kulchytskyy started his dominant run to the title with a 19-second pin of The College of Mount St. Joseph's (Ohio) Joe Kammerer. Kulchytskyy then pinned Alma College's (Mich.) Shawn Brewer in 1:02 and UW-Parkside's Dan Argueta in 2:31.

Kulchytskyy, a two-time NCAA Division III champion, topped North Central College's (Ill.) Josh Tardy, 13-3, in the semifinal. He then earned a 13-4 victory over the University of Mount Union's (Ohio) Jon Garrison in the championship contest.

UW-Oshkosh placed 11th in the 32-team meet with 58 points. UW-Whitewater scored 155.5 points for first place, while UW-La Crosse tallied 120.5 for second.
