Kulchytskyy Receives National Wrestler Of The Year

UW-Oshkosh's Nazar Kulchytskyy (Jr. • Sosnivka, Ukraine) was selected the D3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Year after going 44-1 this season.

Kulchytskyy is the first Titan to capture the award. He has also been named the WIAC Wrestler of the Year the past two seasons.

After a 5-2 defeat to UW-Madison's Isaac Jordan on Nov. 10, Kulchytskyy won his final 39 matches. He went unbeaten in four contests at the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship held March 15-16. Kulchytskyy won the 165-pound title with a 5-3 victory over The College of New Jersey's John Darling.

Kulchytskyy's 44-1 record featured 22 pins and eight technical falls. He won individual crowns at the Muskie Invitational, MSOE Invitational, Dan Gable Open, Matman Invitational, Wheaton Invitational, WIAC Championship and NCAA West Regional.

During 2011-12, Kulchytskyy marked a 45-2 record (17 pins) en route to the national championship at 157 pounds. During that season, he rattled off 34 straight victories.

Kulchytskyy's career record stands at 101-3 with 46 pins.

D3wrestle.com voted Steve Marianetti (Elmhurst College, Ill.) its National Coach of the Year.
