Titans Wrestle Tough At Pointer Open

Three Titans earned second-place finishes as UW-Oshkosh competed at the UW-Stevens Point Wrestling Open on Saturday (Nov. 10) in Stevens Point. No team scores were kept.

Dan Schiferl (Jr. • Stoughton) tallied a 3-1 record with two pins in the 174-pound bracket. He flattened Nick Lecher (UW-Stevens Point) in 3:53 before pinning Jordan Sowinski in 5:24. Schiferl then got a 7-4 decision over Bill Langford (UW-Stevens Point) to advance to the final. The Pointers' Ryan Conat took first place with his 3-1 triumph against Schiferl.

Nazar Kulchytskyy (Jr. • Sosnivka, Ukraine) also notched a pin in his opening 165-pound match, using 4:19 to defeat Josh Anthony (UW-Parkside). After a 9-4 victory over UW-Parkside's Nick Fishback, Kulchytskyy fell to UW-Madison's Isaac Jordan in the title bout, 5-2.

At 133 pounds, Hunter Mulock (Fr. • Baraboo) started with a 3-0 decision over Ryan Osse of UW-Stevens Point. He then topped Joe DeCarlo (Waubonsee) by a 10-4 score and Pedro Perez (Wilbur Wright) with a 11-0 triumph. UW-Madison's Jesse Thielke pinned Mulock in 19 seconds during the first-place contest.

UW-Oshkosh visits UW-Stevens Point for a conference dual meet on Nov. 27.
