Geiger Leads Titans At UW-Eau Claire Open
Aaron Geiger (Sr. • Mishicot) counted two wins for a
fourth-place finish at the UW-Eau Claire Wrestling Open on Saturday
(Feb. 4) in Eau Claire. UW-Oshkosh rested some of its top
competitors during the non-scoring meet.
At 165 pounds, Geiger captured his first match over
UW-Whitewater’s TJ Decker, 6-3. He then defeated UW-La
Crosse’s Sean Huls by a 12-8 score. UW-Eau Claire’s
Levi Polus and UW-Parkside’s Montrail Johnson topped Geiger
to give him fourth place.
Scot McCullough (So. • Milwaukee) was the other Titan to
record two victories. During his opening 149-pound bout, McCullough
pinned Matthew Cordell (Wheaton, Ill.) in 6:23. He later earned an
8-4 decision over teammate Dylan Riley (So. • Belleville).
Tom Dahlke (Fr. • Shiocton), Jay Howarth (Fr. • Coleman)
and Justin Schienebeck (Jr. • Butternut) also earned one win.
Howarth turned his pin (1:37) against Wheaton’s Johann Sarna
into a sixth-place result.
Dahlke totaled a 4-1 triumph over Rashad Kennedy (Augsburg) at
149 pounds, while Schienebeck rounded out the day with his victory
over Zach Noel (UW-Parkside) at 141 pounds.
UW-Oshkosh has its home finale against Augsburg College (Minn.) on
Friday (Feb. 10) in Kolf Sports Center.
