Titans Defeat Raiders, Thunder and Crusaders At Lakeland College Duals

Seven UW-Oshkosh wrestlers went unbeaten as the Titans won three of four matches at the Lakeland College Duals held Saturday (Jan. 9) in Sheboygan.

UW-Oshkosh (5-4) tallied wins of 27-10 over the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 40-6 over Wheaton College (Ill.) and 60-0 over Maranatha Baptist Bible College before dropping a 25-19 decision to Lakeland College.

Kyle Kleuskens (Jr. • Freedom), Zachary Mueller (So. • Jackson) and Jose Quintana (So. • Burnsville, Minn.) led UW-Oshkosh with four victories each.

The 133-pound Kleuskens pinned Jon Rhine of Maranatha Baptist Bible College in 2:41 and defeated Matt Brady of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Caleb Cardenas of Wheaton College by 6-0 scores. He picked up a win on a forfeit against Lakeland College.

Zachary Mueller, competing at 125 pounds, defeated Austin Binish of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 6-2, and received wins on a forfeit against Wheaton College, Maranatha Baptist Bible College and Lakeland College.

Quintana recorded two pins as he stuck Jake Narveson of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Stephen Takashima of Wheaton College to the mat in 48 seconds and 2:28, respectively. The 149-pound Quintana also trounced Isaac Roberson of Lakeland College, 14-3, and acquired a win on a forfeit against Maranatha Baptist Bible College.

Going unbeaten in three bouts for the Titans were Sam Engelland (So. • Neenah) and Alex Mueller (Jr. • Jackson).

Engelland topped 184-pound Matt Olsen of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 6-1, and 174-pound Ryan Renon of Lakeland College, 7-2. Wheaton College gave Engelland a victory on a forfeit at 174 pounds.

Alex Mueller was perfect at 141 pounds, including shutout wins of 3-0 over Joshua Wenderter of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and 9-0 over Casey Krahn of Wheaton College. Alex Mueller then pinned Doug Peterson of Maranatha Baptist Bible College in 2:45.

Winning twice in as many bouts for UW-Oshkosh were Alec Hakes (Jr. • Menomonee Falls) at 174 pounds and Ian Sauer (Sr. • Brodhead) at 197.

Hakes won on a forfeit against the Milwaukee School of Engineering and pinned Peter Thompson of Maranatha Baptist Bible College in 1:28. Sauer received wins on a forfeit against Wheaton College and Maranatha Baptist Bible College.

Accounting for UW-Oshkosh's sixth and final pin of the day was 285-pounder Ryan Heath (So. • Merrill). Heath glued Chris Kehoe of Maranatha Baptist Bible College to the surface in 55 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh wrestles NCAA Division II UW-Parkside on Wednesday (Jan. 13) in Kolf Sports Center.
