Titans Squash Blugolds

Aaron Erickson (So. • Merrill) and Ryan Heath (So. • Merrill) recorded back-to-back pins as the UW-Oshkosh wrestling team earned a 36-12 victory over UW-Eau Claire on Friday (Feb. 5) in Eau Claire.

Erickson gave UW-Oshkosh (6-6/1-3 WIAC) a 30-6 lead with his pin in 4:33 over Will Christ at 184 pounds. Heath then stuck Andy Meyer to the mat in 2:04 at 197 pounds to increase the Titans' advantage to 36-6.

UW-Oshkosh won three bouts by technical fall, including 16-0 triumphs by Zachary Mueller (So. • Jackson) over JT Bernstein at 125 pounds and James Dederich (Jr. • Menomonee Falls) over Levi Polus at 165. The Titans' Sam Engelland (So. • Neenah) added a 23-8 victory over Keith Dawson at 174 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh's list of winners ended with Kyle Kleuskens (Jr.• Freedom) at 133 pounds and Jose Quintana (So. • Burnsville, Minn.) at 149. Kleuskens won on a forfeit, while Quintana marked a 9-4 victory over Josh Baier.

UW-Eau Claire (1-16/0-3 WIAC) owned the winner in three weight classes, including Zach Weisenberger and Jon Ames who won by decisions at 141 and 157 pounds, respectively. Weisenberger defeated Chris Barnett (Fr. • Oshkosh), 8-7, while ousted Dan Schiferl (Fr. • Stoughton), 6-5.

The Blugolds' other win was a forfeit acquired by Joe Pitsch at 285 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh remains in Eau Claire to compete at Saturday's (Feb. 6) UW-Eau Claire Invitational.
