Titans Sweep Events In Win Over Storm

OSHKOSH, Wis.- In the first-ever meeting between the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team and Simpson College (Iowa) at the Kolf Sports Center on Friday (Jan. 26), the Titans outscored the Storm 191.350-176.975.

UW-Oshkosh, which is undefeated in conference play this season, won all four individual events. The Titans finished the vault with 48.500 points, scored 47.000 points on the uneven bars, totaled 47.700 points on the balance beam and registered a 48.150-point score on the floor exercise.

Both Reanna McGibboney (So. • Chester Springs, Pa.) and Emily Buffington (Sr. • Huntersville, N.C.) scored meet-leading 9.750's on the vault. They were joined above 9.500 points by Amaya McConkay (So. • Broken Arrow, Okla.) with a 9.700 for fourth, Mia Lucero (Jr. • Bolingbrook, Ill.) with a 9.675 for fifth, Anna Zoromski's (Sr. • Wausau) career-best tying score of 9.625 for sixth place and a 9.600 from Audrey Koester (Sr. • Saginaw, Mich.) for eighth.

The uneven bars also saw matching scores lead UW-Oshkosh. McGibboney and Kaylie Berens (Sr. • Golden, Colo.) bookended the Titans uneven bars rotation with 9.500-point totals for first place. Lydia Hayden (So. • Broomfield, Colo.) rounded out the top-three Titan competitors with a 9.400 for third place.

Emma Steele (Fr. • Orange County, Calif.) scored 9.700 points in her first collegiate appearance on the balance beam for Oshkosh, winning the event. Liz Romano (Jr. • Royersford, Pa.) followed in second with 9.575 points and Berens turned in a 9.550-point performance that netted her a third-place finish.

Buffington, Lucero and McGibboney ended the floor exercise in the three-way tie for first, all scoring 9.650 points. Delaney Cienkus (Jr. • Plainfield, Ill.) scored 9.625 points for fourth while Taylor Leaman (Fr. • Lancaster, Pa.) and Jay Ratkowski (Fr. • Franklin) each scored a 9.575 to tie for fifth. Leaman's score was a season-best.

The Titans return to action on Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Bowling Green University (Ohio) Triangular. They will be joined by Central Michigan University for the 2 p.m. meet.
