Eight Gymnasts Earn All-WIAC; McGibboney Named Newcomer and Jarvis Named Scholar-Athlete

OSHKOSH, Wis.- Eight members of the UW-Oshkosh gymnastics squad were named members of the 2023 All-WIAC team after the WIAC Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional concluded on Saturday night in the Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans placed first in the meet with a season best 193.100 points, earning an automatic bid to the NCGA Championship on March 25.

Senior Emily Buffington and freshman Reanna McGibboney each earned All-WIAC with scores of 9.800 and 9.775 on the vault. Buffington's score was a personal season-high.

Buffington earned her second All-WIAC nod on the uneven parallel bars where she scored a 9.575. Senior Trinity Sawyer also collected All-WIAC honors on the parallel bars with 9.525 points.

Four Titans were named All-WIAC on the balance beam. Sophomore Delaney Cienkus tied the program record at 9.825 points. Sophomore Liz Romano set a personal season best with a score of 9.775 points. Junior Kaylie Berens and freshman Lydia Hayden each scored 9.750 points, personal season-highs for both. 

Graduate student Rahdea Jarvis led Oshkosh on the floor exercise with 9.775 points and Cienkus grabbed her second All-WIAC nod with a personal season best 9.750 point finish.

Winning the all-around with 38.800 points and setting the program record for the second time this season, Buffington collected her third All-WIAC honor of the meet.

McGibboney was named the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year after the meet concluded and Jarvis was honored as the Judy Kruckman Women's Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete. Jarvis holds a 3.71 grade point average and is pursuing her master's in business administration at UW-Oshkosh. The four-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll has been named to national Academic All-America teams multiple times in her career and was a WIAC nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year in 2022.

The Titans are headed to the NCGA Championship at Winona State University (Minn.) on Saturday March 25 to compete for their fourth NCGA national title in program history (1989, 2007, 2022). The meet will start at 2:00 p.m. in McCown Gymnasium.
