Titans Finish Strong In Division I Quad Meet

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.- The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics squad competed at the Division I Rutgers University (N.J.) January Open on Saturday, joined by Towson University (Md.) and Ball State University (Ind.). 

They finished with a total score of 192.425 points, their highest team score since last season's National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship. 

The Titans reached their total by accumulating 48.300 points on the vault, 48.025 points on the uneven bars, 47.425 points on the balance beam and 48.675 points on the floor exercise.

On the vault, freshman Reanna McGibboney was the top-finisher for Oshkosh with a score of 9.825, good for a tie for third place and a team season-high. Other top performances for Oshkosh on the vault were Mia Lucero with a 9.750 and Daejah Rose with a 9.675. 

Junior Kaylie Berens led the Titans with a 9.675 mark on the uneven bars, followed by Sam Zeilinger (9.625) and Adana Amor (9.600).

The top finisher for Oshkosh on the balance beam was Sophomore Delaney Cienkus who earned a 9.750-point score. Mady Bellmore and Liz Romano followed with scores of 9.650 and 9.500, respectively.

Senior Kennedy Springer set a career-high in the floor exercise when she received a score of 9.825 as the top finisher for Oshkosh, tying for fifth place. Other honorable mentions on the floor were returning fifth year Rahdea Jarvis received a 9.800 and senior Emily Buffington received a 9.750.

Buffington was the Titans sole all-around gymnast on Saturday, receiving a total score of 37.650. Besides her 9.750 on the floor exercise, she scored 9.175 on the vault, 9.575 on the uneven bars and 9.150 on the balance beam.

Looking Forward

The Titans will host their first meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 21, when Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) comes to Kolf Sports Center at 1 p.m. The 21st will be Clash's Kids Day and the first 50 fans will receive a free winter hat.
