Seventeen Titans Earn Scholastic All-America Gymnastics Honors

UW-Oshkosh was represented by a school-record 17 student-athletes on the 2021 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-America Team.

Titans Adana Amor, Kaylie Berens, Emily Buffington, Emily Gilot, Kaira Hammond, Naya Haynes, Rahdea Jarvis, Olivia Keller, Audrey Koester, Skylar Manning, Paige Mayhew, Haley Minor, Alyssa Nore, Leia Randall, Haley Volstad, MacKenzy Walvatne and Anna Zoromski were all recognized for having a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the 2020-21 academic year.

Gilot, Hammond and Nore were honored for the third consecutive year while Amor, Haynes, Jarvis, Mayhew, Minor and Randall repeated the award they received a year ago.

The WCGA recognized 1,059 gymnasts for their academic performance, including 24 from Springfield College (Mass.) and 22 from both Kent State University (Ohio) and University of Pennsylvania.

As a team, UW-Oshkosh led all Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools with its 3.772 GPA. The Titans' school-record GPA ranked 15th among the nation's 81 NCAA Division I, II and III women's gymnastics programs. Northern Illinois University compiled a nation-leading 3.874 GPA while Boise State University (Idaho) followed at 3.856.

Amor, a sophomore kinesiology major, registered a 3.937 GPA this past academic year. The two-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member performed in one meet this past season and produced a score of 8.65 on the uneven bars.

Berens is a freshman business major who recorded a 3.849 GPA. She was a 2021 member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. She participated in all four meets this past year and had scoring averages of 36.50 in the all-around competition, 9.10 on the balance beam, 8.988 in the floor exercise, 8.888 on the uneven bars and 9.263 on the vault.   

Buffington, a freshman business major, earned a 3.501 GPA. Competing in every meet this past season, Buffington marked scoring averages 37.167 in the all-around competition, 9.233 on the balance beam, 9.313 in the floor exercise, 9.494 on the uneven bars and 9.075 on the vault.   

A junior kinesiology major, Gilot achieved a 3.939 GPA. She has been represented on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll three times. Gilot competed in all four meets in 2021 and marked scoring averages of 9.163 in the floor exercise, 9.425 on the uneven bars and 8.95 on the vault. She finished first on the vault and eighth on the uneven bars at the 2020 WIAC Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional. Gilot also placed sixth in the floor exercise and eighth on the vault at the 2019 NCGA Championship.

Hammond, a junior kinesiology major, attained a perfect 4.00 GPA. The three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll participated in only one meet this past season and earned scores of 9.625 on the balance beam and 9.30 on the uneven bars. Hammond finished third on the balance beam and eighth on the uneven bars at the 2020 WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. She also placed fifth on the uneven bars at the 2019 NCGA Championship.

Haynes, a four-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member, compiled a 3.927 GPA as a junior kinesiology major. She didn't compete in a meet this past year.

Jarvis, a junior business management major, recorded a 3.881 GPA. She is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Jarvis performed in all four meets this past year and registered scoring averages of 9.125 in the floor exercise, 9.288 on the uneven bars and 9.325 on the vault. She finished second in the floor exercise and fourth on the vault at the 2020 WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. Jarvis also placed eighth on the vault at the 2019 NCGA Championship.

Keller, a junior, registered a 3.935 GPA as a kinesiology major. She has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll three times. Keller participated in all four meets this past season and achieved scoring averages of 9.181 on the balance beam and 9.625 in the floor exercise. She placed ninth in the floor exercise at the 2019 NCGA Championship.

Koester earned mention on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2021 after posting a 3.943 GPA as a freshman biology major. She competed in three meets this past season and marked scoring averages of 9.025 on the balance beam, 8.70 in the floor exercise and 9.213 on the vault.

Manning, a sophomore kinesiology major, tallied a 3.618 GPA. She has been selected to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll twice. Manning didn't compete in a meet this past year.

Mayhew achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA as a senior kinesiology major. The four-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member participated in one meet this past season and earned a score of 9.35 on the balance beam. Mayhew finished seventh on the balance beam at the 2020 WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional.

Minor is a junior nursing major who recorded a 3.709 GPA. The WIAC has selected her to its Scholastic Honor Roll on three occasions. Minor didn't compete in a meet this past year.

Nore, a junior biology major, attained a 3.969 GPA. The three-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member didn't participate in a meet this past year.

Randall, a freshman, had a 3.938 GPA as a biology major. She is a two-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. In 2021, Randall participated in all four meets and achieved a scoring average of 9.013 on the balance beam.

Volstad earned a 3.501 GPA as a sophomore business major. The two-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll competed in all four meets this past season and marked scoring averages 37.375 in the all-around competition, 9.150 on the balance beam, 9.381 in the floor exercise, 9.225 on the uneven bars and 9.394 on the vault.    

Walvatne was chosen to the 2021 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after recording a 3.580 GPA as a freshman kinesiology major. She participated in one meet this past season and earned a score of 9.375 on the balance beam.

Zoromski achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA. The freshman kinesiology major was named to the 2021 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Zoromski didn't participate in a meet this past year.

Lauren Karnitz completed her 14th season as UW-Oshkosh's head coach during the 2020-21 academic year. The Titans competed in four dual meets and had both their WIAC and NCGA championships canceled due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
