Five Titans Collect All-WIAC Gymnastics Awards
Freshman Emily Buffington and sophomore Trinity Sawyer earned recognition in two categories apiece to lead UW-Oshkosh's seven selections to the 2021 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Gymnastics Team.
Buffington received awards on the uneven bars and in the all-around competition while Sawyer collected accolades on the uneven bars and vault.
The Titans also had juniors Emily Gilot acquire all-conference credit on the uneven bars, Rahdea Jarvis on the vault and Olivia Keller in the floor exercise.
All five gymnasts helped UW-Oshkosh register a 2-2 record in dual competition against WIAC opponents this past season.
Due to the cancellation of the league championship, this year's All-WIAC Team was determined by taking the top six gymnasts in each event based on the average of their two highest scores during the season.
Buffington recorded season average scores of 9.494 on the uneven bars and 37.167 in the all-around competition. She achieved season-best marks of 9.625 on the uneven bars and 37.85 in the all-around competition during UW-Oshkosh's victory over Winona State University (Minn.) on March 18.
Sawyer logged season average scores of 9.413 on the uneven bars and 9.531 on the vault. She posted season-best results of 9.50 on the uneven bars and 9.775 on the vault during the Titans' meet with Winona State University. Sawyer was named WIAC Specialist of the Week for March 15-21.
Gilot, who won the vault competition at the 2020 WIAC Championship, compiled a season average score of 9.425 on the uneven bars. She attained a season-high figure of 9.475 on the apparatus against Winona State University and in UW-Oshkosh's loss to UW-Whitewater on April 3.
Jarvis earned a season average score of 9.325 on the vault. Her season-best grade on the piece of equipment was a 9.575 against UW-Whitewater.
Keller had a season average rating of 9.625 in the floor exercise. Her season-high score on the mat was a 9.675 against UW-Whitewater.
Sophomore Haley Volstad represented UW-Oshkosh on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
