Two Titan Gymnasts Receive All-America In Academics Award

Two seniors from the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics squad were named to the 2021 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association All-America In Academics Team.

A total of 56 gymnasts from the NCGA were recognized for owning a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.00. Each nominee must qualify as a senior student academically and be in her last year of athletic eligibility.

Gymnasts recognized from UW-Oshkosh were three-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll members Naya Haynes and Paige Mayhew. Both Titans are kinesiology majors, with Haynes owning a GPA of 3.379 and Mayhew a GPA of 3.639.

Haynes performed exhibition routines on both the vault and floor exercise in three of UW-Oshkosh's four meets during the 2021 season. She recorded season-best scores of 9.10 on the vault against UW-Whitewater on April 3 and 8.775 on the floor exercise against Winona State University (Minn.) on March 18.

Haynes appeared in UW-Oshkosh's starting lineup 10 times during her career, including the 2018 WIAC Championship, where she finished 29th on the vault with a score of 9.35.

Haynes established career bests with her 2018 scores of 9.375 on the vault at the George Washington University (D.C.) Pink Meet and 9.375 on the floor exercise during a dual meet against UW-Eau Claire.

Mayhew's lone starting assignment of the 2021 season was on the balance beam against UW-Whitewater. She posted a score of 9.35 on the apparatus against the Warhawks.

Mayhew earned a spot in UW-Oshkosh's starting lineup 17 times during her career, including the 2020 WIAC Championship where she finished seventh on the balance beam with a score of 9.575. Mayhew also placed 17th with a career-best score of 9.45 on the vault at the 2018 WIAC Championship.

Mayhew additionally set career highs of 9.00 on the uneven bars against Winona State University and 9.75 on the balance beam, 9.725 on the floor exercise and 36.90 in the all-around competition at the George Washington University Pink Meet in 2018.

UW-Oshkosh compiled a 2-2 record, all against WIAC opponents, during the 2021 season. The WIAC Championship along with the NCGA Championship were both canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
