Titans Defeat Gusties In Final Meet Before WIAC Championship

Four top six finishes in each of the four event categories helped the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team cruise to a 186.525-178.950 victory over Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Saturday (Feb. 29) in St. Peter, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh, which entered the day ranked third in the Division III Rating Index compiled by RoadToNationals.com, has now defeated its last three opponents by seven-plus points. The Titans previously trounced Hamline University (Minn.), 188.825-181.200, on Feb. 15 and UW-Eau Claire, 186.900-178.700, on Feb. 21.

UW-Oshkosh surpassed 186 team points for the seventh straight meet as it compiled event scores of 47.75 on the vault, 47.025 in the floor exercise, 46.175 on the balance beam and 45.575 on the uneven bars against the Gusties.

Gustavus Adolphus College, ranked 12th nationally, posted event team scores of 46.55 on the vault, 45.825 in the floor exercise, 44.05 on the balance beam and 42.525 on the uneven bars.

Emily Gilot was involved in a pair of event victories for UW-Oshkosh. She took first place on the vault with a score of 9.775 while earning a figure of 9.425 on the uneven bars to share the top listing with Gustavus Adolphus College's Annie Corbett.

UW-Oshkosh's Olivia Keller took first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.625 while finishing third on the balance beam at 9.575.

Five other Titans also placed in the top six in two events each, including Kaira Hammond and Rahdea Jarvis. Hammond finished second on the balance beam and third on the uneven bars with scores of 9.60 and 9.40, respectively, while Jarvis placed second on the vault and third in the floor exercise with counts of 9.675 and 9.40, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's Trinity Sawyer finished third on the vault with a score of 9.60 and fourth on the uneven bars with a figure of 9.30 while Haley Volstad placed fourth on both the vault and in the floor exercise with grades of 9.50 and 9.35, respectively.

Titan Baylee Tkaczuk contributed a fifth-place score of 8.975 on the uneven bars and a sixth-place result of 8.95 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh additionally received a second-place score of 9.45 in the floor exercise from Jessica Bernardo and a fifth-place mark of 9.175 on the balance beam from Rachel Morris.

Gustavus Adolphus College's Corbett also won the balance beam and all-around competitions with scores of 9.625 and 37.60, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh will participate at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship (presented by Culver's)/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional next Saturday (March 7) in Eau Claire. The Titans finished second in last year's eight-team meet with a score of 188.95.
