Titans Edged For Harley-Davidson Invitational Title

UW-Whitewater used a strong performance in the fourth and final rotation to edge UW-Oshkosh for first place at the Harley-Davidson Women's Gymnastics Invitational held Friday (Feb. 7) in Milwaukee.

The host Warhawks won the three-team meet with a season-high 188.925 points while UW-Oshkosh finished second with 187.825 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) third with 179.150. UW-Oshkosh's score was the third highest among its five results this season.

UW-Oshkosh compiled a season-high 48.075 points on the balance beam, 46.25 in the floor exercise and a school-record 47.95 on the vault to lead both UW-Whitewater and Gustavus Adolphus College after each of the first three rotations. UW-Whitewater then rallied for the victory by outscoring the Titans, 47.675 (floor exercise)-45.55 (uneven bars), in the fourth rotation.

UW-Oshkosh achieved its school record on the vault by owning five of the event's top nine scorers. Titan Trinity Sawyer won the competition with a season-best score of 9.75 while teammates Emily Gilot finished second at 9.70, Rahdea Jarvis fifth at 9.575, Haley Minor sixth at 9.50 and Haley Volstad ninth at 9.425.

The Titans also had five of the top nine finishers on the balance beam as Baylee Tkaczuk placed third with a score of 9.70, Kaira Hammond and Olivia Keller both fifth at 9.675, Paige Mayhew eighth at 9.525 and Alyssa Nore ninth at 9.50.

UW-Oshkosh's other event title came from Tkaczuk on the uneven bars. She finished first on the apparatus with a score of 9.60 while Hammond placed third at 9.55, Jarvis seventh at 8.95 and Gilot ninth at 8.875.

UW-Oshkosh had three top-10 listings in the floor exercise as Jarvis ranked second with a score of 9.60, Jessica Bernardo fifth at 9.50 and Gilot 10th at 9.25.

UW-Oshkosh's Gilot finished fourth among six contestants in the all-around competition with a score of 36.375.

UW-Whitewater owned the meet's three other individual winners as Emily North scored 9.80 points on the balance beam, Karina Sabol 9.725 in the floor exercise and Blaise Wilson 38.35 in the all-around competition.

UW-Oshkosh will host Hamline University (Minn.) next Saturday (Feb. 15) in Kolf Sports Center.
