Titans Set Team Scoring Record During Win Over Warhawks

UW-Oshkosh's late-season run of impressive team scores continued as the Titans established a school record during their 191.850-190.675 victory over defending national women's gymnastics champion UW-Whitewater on Saturday (March 2) in Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh began its notable streak with a season-best score of 189.100 at a quadrangular hosted by Seattle Pacific University (Wash.) on Feb. 15. The Titans then improved upon that score in their next outing as they edged UW-Whitewater, 189.475-189.159, on Feb. 24 in Whitewater.

In Saturday's meet against the Warhawks, UW-Oshkosh tallied 16 individual scores of 9.5 or better. The Titans achieved their school-record score with team season bests of 48.45 points on the balance beam, 47.80 on the uneven bars and 47.70 on the vault. UW-Oshkosh accumulated 47.90 points in the floor exercise.

UW-Whitewater reached its highest team score of the season by counting 47.95 points on the balance beam, 47.70 on the vault, 47.60 in the floor exercise and 47.425 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh owned three individual winners – Jessica Bernardo in the all-around competition with a score of 37.925, Bailey Finin in the floor exercise with a figure of 9.675 and Kaira Hammond on the balance beam with a mark of 9.825. The scores recorded by the three Titans were all season bests.

The Titans had four top-six finishers on both the uneven bars and in the floor exercise.

Hammond placed second on the uneven bars with a score of 9.70 while Rahdea Jarvis ranked third at 9.625, Baylee Tkaczuk fifth at 9.525 and Emily Gilot sixth at 9.50. The values for Hammond, Jarvis and Gilot were all season highs.

Titans following Finin's victorious effort in the floor exercise were Gilot with a second-place score of 9.625, Olivia Keller with a third-place count of 9.60 and Bernardo with a fifth-place and season-best mark of 9.575.

On the vault, Titans Gilot and Jarvis shared second place with their scores of 9.625. Hammond finished fifth on the apparatus with her figure of 9.50. The scores for Jarvis and Hammond were both season bests.

Hammond's winning performance on the balance beam was followed by a pair of Titans as Tkaczuk finished second with a season-best score of 9.775 and Keller third with a mark of 9.75.

UW-Whitewater, which has been defeated by UW-Oshkosh in all three of this year's meetings, had Acacia Fossum take first place on the uneven bars with a score of 9.725 and Lauren Marshall post a winning figure of 9.70 on the vault.

UW-Oshkosh begins the postseason next Saturday (March 9) by competing at the WIAC/NCGA West Regional Championships (presented by Culver's) in Menomonie.
