Titans Rally To Edge Pipers In Season Debut

The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team scored just enough points during the fourth and final rotation to rally past Hamline University (Minn.), 183.525-183.475, on Saturday (Jan. 6) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh trailed the Pipers, 91.375-89.825, at the midpoint of its season-opening meet and 137.150-136.975 after three rotations.

The Titans pulled out the victory during the final rotation as they scored 46.55 points in the floor exercise, compared to the 46.325 counted by Hamline University on the balance beam. 

In addition to its score in the floor exercise, UW-Oshkosh tallied 47.150 points on the balance beam, 45.575 on the vault and 44.25 on the uneven bars.

Besides its value on the balance beam, Hamline University compiled 46.05 points on the vault, 45.775 in the floor exercise and 45.325 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh's Amanda McBrayer won the all-around competition with 36.95 points. She also earned a score of 9.375 on the vault to share first place with the Pipers' Julia Crysz-DeBoer.

The Titans owned the top performer on the balance beam as Marisa Scholtens posted a winning mark of 9.60.

UW-Oshkosh's Paige Mayhew finished second in the all-around competition with 36.625 points. She also placed second in the floor exercise with 9.425 points, third on the vault with 9.325 and fifth on the balance beam with 9.425.

McBrayer completed a strong meet for the Titans by placing fourth with teammate Bailee Hardy on the uneven bars with 9.00 points and sixth on the balance beam with 9.40.

UW-Oshkosh also received a third-place score of 9.50 on the balance beam from Kasandra Stamopoulos and fourth-place marks of 9.30 on the vault from Amira Ali and 9.375 in the floor exercise from Bailey Finin.

The Titans' Naya Haynes contributed a fifth-place score of 9.35 in the floor exercise.

Hamline University acquired two other first-place finishes as Alyssa Huch scored 9.25 points on the uneven bars and Alexa Vorderbruggen 9.45 in the floor exercise.

UW-Oshkosh returns to competition with a home meet against UW-Stout on Friday (Jan. 12).
