Titans Put Pipers Away With Strong Balance Beam Routines

UW-Oshkosh improved its second-best score of the season for the third consecutive meet and the result was a 187.125-184.625 victory over the Hamline University (Minn.) women's gymnastics team on Saturday (March 4) in St. Paul, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh's overall score included a season-high 47.20 points in the floor exercise. The Titans also tallied 47.475 points on the vault, 46.925 on the balance beam and 45.525 on the uneven bars. 

Hamline University outscored UW-Oshkosh in three of the four events, but suffered the loss after coming up nearly four points short of the Titans on the balance beam. The Pipers counted 47.70 points in the floor exercise and on the vault, 45.675 on the uneven bars and 43.55 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh's Baylee Tkaczuk won the balance beam, uneven bars and all-around categories with season-best results. She earned her victories with scores of 9.775 on the balance beam, 9.475 on the uneven bars and 38.15 in the all-around competition. Tkaczuk also finished fifth in the floor exercise with a season-high figure of 9.50. 

Jessica Bernardo recorded a strong meet for the Titans as well. She finished second in the all-around competition with 37.45 points, third on the balance beam with 9.275, fourth in the floor exercise with 9.55, fourth on the vault with 9.525 and fifth on the uneven bars with 9.10. Bernardo's scores in the all-around competition and on the balance beam were season bests.

UW-Oshkosh swept the top six finishes on the balance beam. In addition to the placements by Tkaczuk and Bernardo, the Titans also had Dana LoCascio rank second with 9.55 points, Amanda McBrayer fourth with 9.225, Kasandra Stamopoulos fifth with 9.10 and Danielle Turner sixth with 9.025. 

UW-Oshkosh's Bailey Finin won the floor exercise with 9.65 points while the Titans' Bailee Hardy finished second on the uneven bars with 9.325 and Turner third on the vault with 9.55.

Hamline University's Cate Reynolds captured first place on the vault with a score of 9.625.

UW-Oshkosh closes its regular season at UW-Stout on Thursday (March 9).
