Titans Finish Third Against Division I Cyclones, Tigers

Danielle Turner ranked in the top 12 in three categories during UW-Oshkosh's third-place finish against a pair of NCAA Division I women's gymnastics teams on Friday (Jan. 13) in Ames, Iowa.

Host Iowa State University won the triangular with 194.275 points while Towson University (Md.) finished second with 193.075 and Division III UW-Oshkosh third with 184.025.

The victorious Cyclones owned the top four contestants on the vault and the top three on both the balance beam and uneven bars. Iowa State University also had the meet's top two all-around performers.

UW-Oshkosh reached its overall team score by totaling 46.70 points on the vault, 45.925 on the balance beam, 45.825 on the uneven bars and 45.575 in the floor exercise. The Titans tallied 174.725 points during last Saturday's (Jan. 7) season-opening loss to Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.).

Turner finished 10th for UW-Oshkosh in the floor exercise with a score of 9.60 while placing 12th on both the balance beam and vault with values of 9.35 and 9.50, respectively.

The Titans' highest individual finish belonged to Baylee Tkaczuk. She placed seventh on the uneven bars with a score of 9.60 while listing 13th on the balance beam with a mark of 9.325.

UW-Oshkosh's Jessica Bernardo finished in the top 14 in three categories, including the floor exercise where she placed 11th with a score of 9.575. Bernardo also finished 12th with 9.35 points on the uneven bars and 14th with 9.325 points on the vault. Bernardo ranked fifth among the meet's five all-around competitors with 36.85 points.

The Titans' Kasandra Stamopoulos contributed a pair of top 13 scores with her 10th-place mark of 9.425 on the balance beam and 13th-place figure of 9.275 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh also had Bailey Finin place ninth in the floor exercise with 9.725 points and Dana LoCascio 14th on the vault with 9.325.

Iowa State University swept all five individual titles, including balance beam and vault where Meaghan Sievers recorded scores of 9.775 and 9.80, respectively.

Other event winners for the Cyclones were Briana Ledesma in the floor exercise with 9.925 points, Kelsey Paz in the all-around competition with 38.975 and Haylee Young on the uneven bars with 9.825.

UW-Oshkosh returns home to Kolf Sports Center to host Winona State University (Minn.) on Friday (Jan. 20).
