Warhawks Defeat Titans In High-Scoring Affair

UW-Oshkosh's highest home score in history wasn't enough as defending WIAC women's gymnastics champion UW-Whitewater defeated the Titans, 190.60-187.20, on Saturday (Feb. 13) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh, which has surpassed 182 points in five of its six meets this season, reached its new home scoring mark with values of 47.65 points on the balance beam, 47.20 on the vault, 47.025 in the floor exercise and 45.325 on the uneven bars. UW-Oshkosh's scores on both the balance beam and uneven bars were season bests.

UW-Whitewater eclipsed 190 points for the first time this season. The Warhawks achieved their overall score with 48.05 points in the floor exercise, 47.95 on the vault, 47.70 on the balance beam and 46.90 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh's Krystal Walker placed second in the all-around competition with a season-best 37.875 points. She also ranked third on the balance beam with 9.625 points, fourth in the floor exercise with 9.55 and sixth on the vault with 9.50.

Kasandra Stamopoulos contributed to the Titans' record home score by finishing fourth on the balance beam with 9.60 points and sixth on the uneven bars with 9.30.

Kimberly Robertson placed fourth for UW-Oshkosh on the vault with 9.55 points, while Emily Ryan and Danielle Turner both ranked fifth with scores of 9.40 on the uneven bars and 9.525 in the floor exercise, respectively.

Amanda McBrayer was UW-Oshkosh's final top-six finisher. She placed sixth on the balance beam with 9.575 points.

UW-Whitewater's Lisa O'Donnell earned a pair of first-place finishes by posting winning scores of 38.55 points in the all-around competition and 9.75 in the floor exercise.

The Warhawks also received first-place performances of 9.725 on the vault from Katie Fiorilli and 9.70 on the balance beam from Courtney Pickett and on the uneven bars from Mackenzie Smith.

UW-Oshkosh hosts UW-Stout on Friday (Feb. 19) in Kolf Sports Center.
