Walker Named WIAC Gymnast Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh's Krystal Walker was chosen WIAC Co-Gymnast of the Week for her performance during UW-Oshkosh's 189.65-186.95 loss to two-time defending national champion UW-Whitewater on Feb. 28.

Walker, who was selected as the league's top all-around performer, earned the award for women's gymnastics meets held Feb. 23 through March 1. Ali Berry of UW-La Crosse was selected as the conference's top specialist.

Walker compiled a season-best 38.275 points in the all-around competition to defeat three other competitors. She also recorded a season-high 9.775 points in the floor exercise to share first place with UW-Whitewater's Lewa Evans and Steffi Heuer.

Walker completed her performance with a second-place score of 9.575 on the balance beam, a third-place value of 9.475 on the vault and a sixth-place figure of 9.45 on the uneven bars. Her scores on the uneven bars and vault were also season highs.
