Titans Overtake Blugolds In Final Rotation

The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team rallied in the final rotation to win an exciting 183.375-182.50 decision over fourth-ranked UW-Eau Claire on Friday (Jan. 16) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh, which entered the meet ranked fifth in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association by GymInfo, tallied 46.60 points in the floor exercise to outscore UW-Eau Claire by nearly two and one-half points in the final revolution. The Blugolds concluded the meet with 44.275 points on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh recorded its highest score of the season with additional values of 46.00 points on the balance beam, 45.70 on the uneven bars and 45.075 on the vault. UW-Eau Claire's overall score also included 47.125 points in the floor exercise, 46.025 on the vault and 45.075 on the uneven bars.

The Titans' Krystal Walker was a winner in two categories, including the all-around competition where she compiled 37.55 points. Walker won the balance beam with 9.50 points while placing second in the floor exercise with 9.575, third on the vault with 9.35, fourth on the uneven bars with 9.125.

UW-Oshkosh had two of its gymnasts share the top spot on the uneven bars as Elizabeth Kiel and Kasandra Stamopoulos scored 9.25 points.

On the vault, UW-Oshkosh's Emily Ryan and UW-Eau Claire's Julia Stedman shared the highest listing with 9.375 points. Ryan also finished third on the uneven bars with a score of 9.175.

UW-Eau Claire's Elizabeth Stubbs took first place in the floor exercise with 9.75 points.

UW-Oshkosh had three other place winners on the balance beam as Leane Blais finished second with 9.40 points, Barbara Bass fourth with 9.25 and Kiel fifth with 9.05.

In the floor exercise, the Titans received additional places from Danielle Turner and Kimberly Robertson. Turner finished fourth with 9.475 points and Robertson sixth with 9.25.

UW-Oshkosh's Amanda McBrayer contributed a fourth-place score of 9.30 on the vault.

The Titans visit top-ranked and defending WIAC champion UW-La Crosse on Thursday (Jan. 22).
