Walker Named WIAC Gymnast Of The Week

The WIAC has selected UW-Oshkosh's Krystal Walker as one of its two Gymnast of the Week award winners.

Walker collected the league's top all-around prize for her performance in meets held Jan. 27 - Feb. 2. Kari Willett of UW-La Crosse was named the conference's top specialist.

Walker won the all-around competition and ranked in the top eight of all four events during UW-Oshkosh's second-place finish at the Gershon/McLellan Invitational held Jan. 31.

Walker compiled 37.35 points in winning the all-around competition. Jade Donaldson of Winona State University finished second with a score of 36.95.

Walker also placed second on the balance beam with 9.60 points, fourth on the vault with 9.35, sixth in the floor exercise with 9.175 and eighth on the uneven bars with 9.225. Walker shared her listing on the bars with teammate Elizabeth Kiel.

Host UW-La Crosse captured its fifth straight Gershon/McLellan Invitational title with 185.925 points, while UW-Oshkosh finished second with 180.40. Winona State University (Minn.) placed third in the three-team meet with 179.40 points.
