Sweep In Floor Exercise Leads Eagles To Win Over Titans

Defending WIAC champion UW-La Crosse swept the top six positions in the floor exercise as it defeated UW-Oshkosh, 185.200-177.825, in a women's gymnastics meet held Friday (Feb. 22) in La Crosse.

The Eagles compiled a season-high 47.875 points in the floor exercise, including Katie Palluck's first-place score of 9.70. The Eagles had Jessica Herrmann finish second in the event with 9.60 points and Sheree Romesburg third with 9.55.

UW-Oshkosh owned a pair of event winners as Stephanie Gorman (Jr. • Belvidere, Ill.) tallied 9.425 on the vault and Krystal Walker (Fr. • Chicago, Ill.) 9.45 on the balance beam. Walker also took second place on both the vault and in the all-around competition with scores of 9.40 and 36.15, respectively.

Leane Blais (So. • Salisbury, N.C.) finished second for the Titans on the uneven bars with a score of 9.50, while Leah Herchenbach (So. • Libertyville, Ill.) ranked fifth on the balance beam with a value of 9.00.

UW-Oshkosh's Elizabeth Kiel (Fr. • Union Grove) placed sixth on the uneven bars with a score of 8.975.

Christa Booman was a multiple winner for UW-La Crosse as she registered first-place marks of 9.525 on the uneven bars and 37.80 in the all-around competition.

The Titans' overall score featured 45.75 on the vault, 44.10 in the floor exercise, 44.00 on the uneven bars and 43.975 on the balance beam. UW-La Crosse's highest score was achieved in the floor exercise.

UW-Oshkosh visits UW-Stout next Friday (March 1) before hosting the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional on March 9 in Kolf Sports Center.
